Do you have a Facebook Page for your business? Are you having a hard time creating a great cover photo for your Timeline?
On March 30, 2012, all Facebook Pages were converted to the timeline layout with the cover photo. But you may have noticed that not every cover image looks just right.
This guide is designed to help Facebook Page Managers create a cover image that looks professional and one that makes a great first impression, without violating the Facebook Pages Terms.
While Facebook allows Page admins to choose a photo from an existing photo album, doing this is probably not going to give you the professional-looking image that makes your business look fabulous. Chances are that your existing photos were not made to take advantage of the unusual shape of a Facebook cover photo.
When Facebook announced Timeline for Pages on Feb. 29, 2012, they also updated their Facebook Pages Terms with new guidelines for cover photos. So, before you start creating your new cover photo, please read the Facebook Pages Terms.
The Facebook cover photo is not a common image size, and the rectangular size includes a cut-out for your profile icon in the lower left corner. This means the best-looking cover photos are images that are designed to take advantage of the cover photos exact size and shape.
-Official Facebook cover photo size: 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels tall.
-Profile icon cut-out: 168 pixels wide by 103 pixels tall, spaced 24 pixels from the left edge of the cover photo.
-Profile icon size: 160 x 160 pixels, however, your upload size must be 180 x 180 pixels. Facebook will resize this for you.
